We are coming up to Christmas yet again!  As usual Artists UK will have a dispatch on each of the last posting dates for Christmas 2008 so as long as an order is in before the last posting date and the items are in stock it should go out by the last posting date with plenty of time to get there for Christmas.  You can always email us if you want to check if it will reach you by Christmas although you can normally assume that if you can order it then it is in stock and if there were any unusual problem you can be sure we would email you immediately.  The last posting dates for Christmas 2008 are as follows:

Last posting dates for Christmas 2008 within the UK -

  • Last First Class Recorded posting date for Christmas 2008 = Saturday 20th December (but our last collection will be on Friday 19th December)
  • Last Special Delivery posting date for Christmas 2008 = Tuesday 23rd December (best to order early to avoid having to upgrade to Special Delivery)

Last airmail posting date for Christmas 2008 for Western Europe = Friday 12th December

Last airmail posting date for Christmas 2008 for Japan, USA, Canada and Eastern Europe (Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Malta and Iceland) = Wednesday 10th December

Most orders are dispatched by airmail so these last posting dates for Christmas 2008 should apply for almost all orders.  Large framed items for delivery overseas (over 61 x 46 cms) will normally go by courier and we will contact you by email if this is the case (and it is explained in the product description).  Any questions about ordering by the last posting date for your area in time for Christmas 2008, just click that button and send us an email.  If you want to go browsing to look for Christmas presents then click here.  We are not currently able to supply to the following destinations - The Moon, Mars, Venus or in fact anywhere off-planet so a big sorry to all you wonderful alien beings, you’ll have to get your stuff from the Betelgeuse Intergalactic Store again, even if their customer service isn’t as good as ours :-)

One of our customers has supplied us with some info on a wonderful forum for art lovers you might like to join.  Here are the details:-

The forum I visit on a daily basis is on Spacecast.com. It is a place where
we exchange ideas and opinions in a friendly manner, even if more often than
not, we tease each other in full respect of each others opinions.

We talk about Science-Fiction, Fantasy, Horror and Adventures. We talk about
old and new series, movies and books.

We talk about new discoveries in science and we also have started recently
threads on artists’ artworks with respect of their copyrights and tittles.

When you visit the forum, you will find that they (the Spacemonkeys) try to
make it easy to find all the different subjects by categorising them.

We all make sure every new comers are welcome and they can add to the fun we
have there. I, myself, been there for some years now and I still enjoy the
simplicity of the place.

So, I invite everyone to register with your name or username. It is as you
wish. ;))

Kindly,

Marc

Here are 2 threads I personaly started:

A Hot Hot Summer!

We’re not quite sure where the credit crunch is crunching because we’ve been rushed off our feet all summer with orders from our customers and various trade projects!  So busy there has been a substantial Blogbreak here but hopefully we’ll be writing a bit more over the coming week’s than has been the case recently.  If you haven’t visited our ecommerce site recently at www.artistsuk.co.uk then you might like to take a look as there are lots of new items all over the place.  Use the SEARCH function because not everything has found a home on the Updates Page yet although you will probably find a few things there you didn’t know had arrived.

As far as Gothic Clothing goes or any T-Shirt or modern clothing this is the pinnacle of success! This gothic black fitted shirt is the best-selling shirt of all time. The clothing manufacturers have been unable to keep up with the demand for this shirt. As you can see, it is a classic t-shirt or fitted shirt where the back of the shirt has the tail sticking out and the dragon demon emerges from your chest! Cool or what?

Gothic Clothing - The Devils Travails fitted t-shirt

The clothing manufacturer’s tag line goes -

” EXPLOSIVE BESTIAL BIRTH, CONCEIVED BY THE CORRUPTION WITHIN”

So that’s the jury!

Château des Réaux have still not sent us the information we requested. However, one of the artists in contact with us who was considering submitting paintings to the art exhibition competition did get a reply from them with the list of the judges for the competition. Since they don’t want the names published we will honour that but we will give some details that artists thinking of submitting their oil paintings might like to consider. Château des Réaux state the following: “The acceptance of works is decided by a jury, the members of which are figures of art and literature.”

There are five members of the jury who will decide what artworks are accepted etc. Of these, one is a published French art critic whose inclusion would appear quite valid. However, the other members are one poet (guess who), two civil servants and someone who works for an auction house (as yet unnamed). Four of the five members are French. We are really not sure why these people have been chosen and how they can be deemed qualified to judge this competition. It seems like a case of “it’s my game and I’ll choose anyone I like”. Certainly it is hardly an international jury and to describe these people as “figures of art and literature” is really stretching the concept in most cases. In any event, what would a “figure of literature” be doing judging an art competition anyway? Would you have Salvador Dali, Gil Elvgren, Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet and HR Giger deciding who gets the Booker prize?

After reading the list of judges, the artist who contacted us decided not to send her paintings off to Château des Réaux, thanked us for our blog and immediately sold one of the paintings for far more than 305 Euros and without losing her copyright on it :-)
